The fun part of Monday...

Even with all of the stress and medical terms during the ultrasound, it was an amazing experience. The baby didn't want to cooperate and move into the correct position. The tech had me laying on each side in an effort to get the baby to move. It was fun to watch the baby shift into a new position that wasn't good either. The baby did finally cooperate and the tech got all the images she needed. We got to see the baby opening and closing its mouth several times. The baby was busy moving its arms and legs. It was amazing to see all the little bones in the hands and to the see the heart beating. At one point, the baby was laying its head against the aorta. With every heartbeat, the blood vessel would bump its head. I imagine that would be annoying, but the baby didn't seem to mind. The baby currently weighs 11 ounces. I can't wait for the next ultrasound!

CPC Information

http://www.babyzone.com/pregnancy/health_wellness/prenatal_tests/ultrasound/article/choroid-plexus-cyst

I'm feeling much better after reading information online plus this article. My friend's son also had these cysts and he is now a very active and healthy 3 year old. I'm looking forward to the next ultrasound to confirm that the baby is healthy!

Baby

It has been an emotional weekend. Last week, my Quad screen came back positive which meant that I needed further testing. I went in for the ultrasound today. The baby looked good and showed no signs of down syndrome. However, there were choroid plexus cysts on the brain. They can be harmless or they can be an indicator of Trisomy 18. The baby doesn't have any other indicators of Trisomy 18. The only way to get a definitive answer is to do an Amniocentesis and that test carries a risk of miscarriage. I go back in 4 weeks for another ultrasound to determine if the baby is growing and healthy. They will also check the cysts to see if they go away or not. Please keep our baby in your prayers.

I did get some nice pictures of the baby. And I know what the baby is....but I can't tell anyone till we have a chance to tell Jeff!

Missing him...

Madalyn got sick at church this morning so we spent the day at home. Amelia did get a break and went swimming with some friends. When I get bored, I start to think about Jeff. My friend Yoko gave me these pictures (they don't look great scanned...sorry). Anyways - prior to deployment, Jeff got a couple days off during standdown. So I convinced him to try paddling with me. He even admits that it is harder than it looks. Here are a couple pictures of the fun!

Midsummer Night's Gleam

Yesterday we went to the Midsummer Night's Gleam at Foster's Botanical Garden. They had lion dancers, belly dancers, bagpiping, crafts, Mogolian fighters and a "haunted walk". We had a good time and even got a good scare during the "haunted walk".

July...

Halfway through July! Yeah :)

Not much happening - We did go to the Art Spree at the Contemporaray Art Museum in Honolulu. They had lots of great crafts for the kids – clay bowls, little flower vases, face painting, recycled art. Madalyn said she is a true artist now because she can make art out of anything! They also have an 8ft reflecting pool where they had synchonized swimmers. There was lots of dancers and performers. It was a great day with the girls.

Today the girls got their "school" hair cut! We also finished shopping for school supplies this week. School starts July 30th!

Happy 4th of July!

Here are a couple of fireworks pictures. They were taken from the backyard of our neighbors house during the McGrew Point Community Potluck. I'll add more later.

May never happen again...

I took a picture since it may never happen again. They volunteered to wash and dry the dishes! And they did it together with no fighting!

Pool Fun...

Here are some pictures of the girls with their friend Stuart & Grace at the pool. I love the picture of them "flying" home!

A week later..

This past week must have gone quickly! I'm not sure why, but I'm thankful :)

I had an OB appointment and heard the baby's heartbeat again. Always nice to hear that! Friday night we went to the Hale Koa pool to swim and watch the fireworks. The girls had a great time. The rest of the week is a blur - buying a new tire, girls playing with friends, going to the pool, a couple kickboxing classes, errands and life stuff! I need to go thru the pictures and post some of the girls with their friends :)
